He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty. —Proverbs 16:32
This is a verse that definitely affects me personally. I am known to lash out in anger or to lose my temper. As Christians, we need to continue allowing the Lord to work in us to be more like Christ. I was at a snake show a couple of months ago and learned a lot about Rattlesnakes and Cobras. The Rattlesnake warned the trainer by rattling his tail. He rattled constantly for at least 10 minutes. This snake has the power to injure or even kill, and knows it. Yet, this snake constantly warned the intruder to the very last resort.
As a martial artist, we can tend to lose our temper and use our abilities that do not honor God. We need to remember to be slow to anger and to control our emotions.
