Courage Under Fire

Courage Under Fire

From the outside looking in, martial arts and fighting looks violent and brutal.  They do not think it belongs in the church, because it may not seem to give the right message.  But from within, it is much more than just hitting an opponent.  It teaches more than just physical technique.  No, there is much more to it than that.  Learning to fight teaches courage; courage to face adversity; courage to keep going when the going gets tough.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
You learn to keep going, to finish your fight without quitting.
Fight the good fight of faith.  Take hold of the eternal life in which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
They teach discipline and commitment to train no matter how difficult or hard it may be, but knowing what lies at the end if you do not give up.  Know this, Christianity, true Christianity, is not a walk in the park.  No, it requires discipline and commitment no matter how tough the road may get.  It requires courage when persecution and fear of retaliation from the outside world fire in.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 – I have fought the good fight.  I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
God requires us to fight the good fight, to finish our race, where we will receive our just reward.  No matter what you do in your life, but do it unto the Glory of Christ Jesus! Pursue righteousness for His Name’s sake.
Always be on your guard and prepare to fight!
