Down, But Not Out

Down, But Not Out

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. (NLT)
When you sign up to follow Jesus Christ, it is not without cost.  As a follower of Christ, our enemy has a target on our back, eager to strike us at anytime.  We will face trials and hardships throughout our life, and there is no avoiding it.  But this can be true for those who do not follow Christ as well.
We face trouble when we lose a loved one in our family.  I lost my dad six years ago to cancer.  Families split up through divorce and wreak havoc to anyone in its path, and it can have negative impact for generations.  Innocent people are victimized daily to horrendous acts of terror by evil running rampant.  No one, Christian or not, is immune to the evil that is evident in this world.
But as Christians when we face such difficult circumstances, we have the support and peace only Christ can provide.  We are pressed at every angle by opposition, by troubles, but we are not crushed.  We will not break.  When we get perplexed and overwhelmed, we do not quit.  When we are hunted down by those who hate us, Christ is there right beside us, and He will not leave us to fend for ourselves.  We get knocked down, but we get up and keep fighting.
