Fight With Your Mind

Fight With Your Mind

Temptations flow at us like a river and we must be vigilant to overcome every temptation that comes our way.  Satan is hoping to isolate us and destroy us.  So, how do we stand against attacks that are fierce and intense?  We fight back with the Word of God.  I have a couple of verses I recite when faced with an attack.  Romans 12:2 and Ephesians 6:13.
Romans 12:2 – Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve God’s Will – His pure, pleasurable, and perfect will.
Ephesians 6:13 – Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

  • First, you fight with your mind.  You fight by reciting these verses as they force your mind to focus on something else.  What better way than to focus on Scripture!
  • Secondly, by reciting Romans 12:2, you are conditioning yourself to not focus on worldly pleasures which bring death, but renewing your mind to think purely.
  • Finally, after you have reset your thinking from temptation, arm yourself by reciting Ephesians 6:13.  This verse will remind you to arm yourself, which in this case, you just did.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He did not fight Satan hand to hand, or arguing and debating.  He recited Scripture which was enough to thwart Satan and his evil scheme.
If you are still having trouble fighting temptation, I encourage you to continue reciting Scripture, even if you have to repeat the above verses.  Do not let Satan win.  He will try harder than you can ever know.
Fight the Good Fight of Faith, arm yourself with the Bible, seek Christ daily, and do not give up the fight no matter the cost.  Rise up and win the wars in your life for Christ!
