Know Thine Enemy …

Know Thine Enemy …

Psalm 144:1 “Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;”
Nehemiah 4:14 “And I arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, ‘Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.’ “
Brothers in Christ, we are called upon, commanded as warrior servants of God to fight! We are called to fight for our brothers, sons, daughters, wives and homes! But do not be fooled, the enemy is not flesh and blood.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
If you find yourself fighting against flesh and blood, if you find yourself arguing with your wife, furious with your neighbor, incensed/offended/hurt by your brother – don’t fall for the trap! Is the hurt real? Yes. But make no mistake, the fiery dart you feel comes from the fiery pit of hell. The enemy of your soul is satan, not your wife. I repeat, Not your wife. She is a made in the image of God, and in desperate need of redemption through Jesus Christ – same as you (and everyone else). A lot of problems happen when we mix up the devil and people. Not the same.
Remember, your salvation is sealed as the gospel power of God’s grace in Christ takes you from death to life – but the redemptive work doesn’t end at the cross, it begins.
So pick yourself up, love your wife, love your neighbor, act like Jesus, and if it encourages you – say “in your eye, satan!”.
You have one life. You have one shot to live today, to wage war, now.
Fight warrior, fight.
