Loving Through Sacrifice

Loving Through Sacrifice

Colossians 1:20-22 – and by Him God reconciled everything to Himself.  He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of His blood on the cross.  (NLT)
On the battlefield, soldiers give their lives to save innocent life from an evil force every day.  They sign away their comfort, happiness, and safety, so others may live.  Freedom was paid by blood through sacrifice.  It could be a Marine standing in between an innocent child as an enemy shoots in his direction.  It could be a father working two jobs just so his family can be provided for.
This world is full of stories of sacrifice, most of them untold.  Sacrifice is more about giving of oneself without gaining any of the credit.  Sacrifice is accompanied by love of one another.  It cannot survive by itself.  Sacrifice must be given for the benefit of others, through love.
Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice, and He paid it with love.  Without His love and compassion for us, we could not know the love He shares, nor have any hope of an eternal peace.  Christ gave His perfect life in place for ours, separated from His Father.  However, because of His sinless life, death could not keep Him.  Because of this, He rose again, our sins have been paid by His blood, and we can live in victory over death in Christ Jesus!
