Heberws 11:33-34 – By faith, these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. There weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.
In our culture, strength is viewed as how big your muscles are, or mere size of a man. They amount of experience and training is usually weighed in as a means to demonstrate raw power and might. We can also talk about weaponry and technology, or the size of armies as genuine strength. But there is something much deeper in our souls that is much sharper than any sword, or stronger than any well trained soldier. It is the faith in Jesus Christ.
This faith has the power to move mountains, to destroy vast armies, or to pick up a car that has fallen on a loved one. It is faith to stand against the majority because what you stand for is true and just. Without faith, we are useless, and powerless, no matter how tough you may think you are. No physical power or brute force can ever be stronger than the faith in Christ a Christian can possess.
