John 16:33 –I have told you all of this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Every warrior is required to be strong. They lift weights and perform repetitions to increase muscle mass and strengthen their bodies. They condition themselves to be able to absorb impact and pain. They also train for strength to help prevent injury.
Strength is not just a component to show off. Strength is vital for our survival and enjoyment of life. It is also required for us to work at our jobs, and for energy to perform daily tasks. Without it, we would be ragdolls, useless to anyone.
As Christians, it is important to be strong physically, but it is even more critical to be strong spiritually. If not, we would be susceptible to every temptation, and we would lose every time.
You cannot build spiritual muscle using weights, or exercise. There is only one place you can condition your spiritual strength. It is through Jesus Christ alone. It is His Word that trains us up to be strong men of God. Dive into His Word daily, and you will start to see your spiritual muscles.
