Fighting your last round, everything seems to be going in your favor.  You are in the best shape of your life, and you dominate your opponent.  You have knocked him to the floor more than once and he is rather weak and tired.  You start to relax, “knowing” you have this fight and you will win.  You dropped your guard as you inched close to your opponent, with this look in your eye as if looking down to your opponent.  Then it hits you.  You get knocked out by a round kick to the chin.
Over-confidence is a dangerous character trait to have and should be avoided at all cost.  We get this way when everything seems to go well and we take our focus off of Christ, and look into ourselves.  I run into this trap quite often, I hate to admit.  What does the Bible have to say about this?
In 1 Corinthians 10:12, we are being warned when we stand firm, we need to be alert to our downfall.
So if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
What are some areas that this rings true?  If you have struggled with sexual temptation, but you find yourself not being tempted, this is not a time to let your guard down.  Doing so will surely lead to your downfall.
Pride comes always before the fall.  God calls us to humility.  This might sound harsh, but in reality, this is some of the best wisdom we can ever receive.
As Christians, we must be vigilant.  We must always stand alert, humbling ourselves before a Mighty God.  He is our shield and our protection.
