Walking on Water

Walking on Water

Matthew 14:29-30 – “All right, come,” Jesus said.  So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.  But when he looked around at the high waves, he was terrified and began to sink.  “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. (NLT)
Everyone of us faces problems, trials, tribulations in our life more frequently than we can keep count.  They are just a nature of the world we live in and the sin that is part of it.  In life, there can be no escaping troubles, no matter who you are.
When the disciples saw Jesus walking on water, Peter wanted to meet Jesus out on the sea.  As he walked out to Jesus, he was walking on water as well, but when he chose to take his eyes off of Jesus, he saw what was around him and became frightened and doubtful.  Then he started to sink before Jesus rescued him.
The storms during that night, and the water Jesus was walking on are much like the storms we face in our lives.  Jesus is above our problems.  Nothing we face is too great for Him.  As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus in the midst of our storms, we can stand above them.  But if we start to look around and below at the troubles we face, we begin to sink and can quickly drown in them.
