Who is in Your Corner?

“I need [Jesus] steel …

Adapted from Kill Bill Vol. 1 ~

I need [Jesus] steel.
Why do you need [Jesus] steel?
I have vermin to kill.
You must have big rats if you need [Jesus] steel.
… Huge.

Fight men, it’s what we were made to do.

As we’ve noted around here at Fighters4Christ, our enemy is not flesh and blood. We wage war differently. We stand up to the onslaught through righteousness and faith, by the grace and power of Jesus Christ. Our sword is the word of God (how sharp is your sword?), we radio in to the Almighty with prayer and supplication.

And we worship, we praise God and we please the Father and stick it to the enemy, shining a light in the darkness.

Let’s get more aggressive. Let’s take a look at some more divine armaments.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” (2 Cor. 10:3-5)

Now we’re talking! That sounds much more like offense, and offense is where you score points, advance, take territory, free captives and in short – conquer. So just what are these weapons of “divine power”? Again, our sword, is the word of God. “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”, “Is not my word like a fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”    (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Tim. 3:16,17; Jeremiah 23:29).

How do we wield this sword? We take our thoughts captive to obey Christ (helpfully, we have Christ’s commands in black and white), we discern opinion that contradicts the knowledge of God as revealed in His word, we submit to God’s word behaviorally and so destroy behavioral strongholds and tear down the lies of the enemy that would lead us astray or into division.

And what is the impact of a warrior well trained in wielding the word of God?

Such a warrior will “…not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

Such a warrior will be like “… the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” (James 1:25)

Have you cultivated a love and passion for, a submission to, a genuine behavioral response to God’s word? If not, candidly, in the spiritual warfare realm, you’ll almost certainly be a complete loser. As in, one whom constantly loses battles.

“But that is not the way you learned Christ! — assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,” (Ephesians 4:20,21)

Take heart, put on courage and expose the truth of your state of submission before and love of God’s word! Be encouraged, for it follows in Ephesians (5:13-17) –

“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’ Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”  … And DO IT

Fight warrior, fight.
