Christian Martial Arts Classes Around the Corner
The season is still a couple of months away, but it will be here before you know it. If you are planning on attending, let me fill you in on some changes coming this season. Get back into shape because this year will be a blast!
The classes will be intense as they usually are, including our warm up. However, the classes will have a certain structure to them. I am providing a sample curriculum so you will know what to expect.
The warm up will consist of plyometrics, aerobic and anaerobic, calisthenics, and cardio exercises followed by thorough stretching. The warm up is meant to push you and make you sweat.
Basics / Shadowboxing
The second phase of the class will consist of basic fundamentals benefiting both beginner and advanced alike. The instructor(s) will demonstrate and perform each technique or combination so students can mirror. During this phase, instructors will guide students to improve technique.
Pad / Focus Mitt Drills
During the third phase, the class will learn combinations including boxing and kickboxing fundamentals. The goal of this phase is to increase your “toolbox” of martial arts technique.
In the last phase, we will either focus on core exercises, Fighters4Christ’s “Granada,” or a bit of both. This phase will push you as much as possible so you get the most of your workout.
This year’s devotional time will focus on what the Lord wants for men. There will be bible study, issues men face, and how to be stronger in the Lord.
In the last half of the season starting in 2016, we will focus on sparring drills, however, there will be no sparring among the students. Sparring will be considered on a case by case basis for those who are considered ready. Those who do not feel comfortable sparring will not be require to. You will get to learn sparring drills, strategy, and tactics in a safe environment.
I am really excited for this season and I look forward to seeing more of you!
